A Letter From Sissy

Dear Manna House Supporters,

As 2025 draws to a close, I am filled with gratitude and nostalgia. After dedicating 30 years of my life to Manna House, I have made the bittersweet decision to retire at the end of this year.

My journey with Manna House began three decades ago as a volunteer. In 1999, I was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and found myself needing help from the very organization I had been serving.

I remember the day I came to Manna House for help, unable to pay a $200 light bill. After Manna fulfilled my request, I left the office overwhelmed with relief and hope that I will never forget.

In 2004, I was asked to serve as the director of Manna House, and in that moment, I found my life’s mission: to provide that same sense of relief and hope to everyone who walks through our doors.

For 30 years, this has been the heart of everything we do. And as our community has grown, so has the need. These past few years, the need has been greater than ever before. However, thanks to the community’s continued support and generous donations, the stories of struggle I’ve encountered have been met with relief and appreciation.

I know that I am leaving Manna House stronger than ever. But we need your help. As we close out another challenging fiscal year, I ask you, from the bottom of my heart, to consider making an end-of-year donation to Manna House. Every contribution—big or small—makes an immeasurable difference to those who depend on us.

Serving as the director of Manna House has been the greatest honor of my life. I am grateful for the kindness and generosity of this community. Your support is changing lives – including mine – and I know it will continue to be a light in the darkness for many years to come.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Sissy Franklin
