Full Time Resale Store Support
General Job Summary:
Location: 212 W. Ave F Midlothian
- Greet customers/announce daily specials, open the door for those who may need assistance.
- Offer to put customers’ backpacks and bags behind the counter for their convenience and our security.
- Run Register and bag/box purchases. Always wrap glass items and fragile items in bubble wrap or wrapping paper, use boxes for large or heavy purchases.
- Check racks for moved clothes, clothes in wrong size areas, make sure no clothes are on the floor, make sure there are no stained or tore clothing on the floor, etc.
- Clean counter area, stock bags, cut glassware wrap.
- Keep buggies in an organized way, get from outside.
- Answer customers’ questions.
- Watch customers for security purposes, watch people going into changing rooms, hang & return clothing if necessary.
- Dust shelves where needed, clean glass tops of racks.
- Sweep and mop if necessary.
- Watch for free food distribution, make sure it isn’t all taken and there is plenty for everyone.
- Pray with customers who are in need.
- Help stock the shelves during down times at the register, put out items in the rolling black crates or hang clothes.
- If there is someone who needs assistance getting out their purchases either assist them or get someone in the store to assist them.
- Always offer a seat to someone who seems to be worn out or lightheaded in order to avoid an accident.
- If there is an accident in or outside the store you are required to get names, date, time, witnesses, and every detail no matter how small to give the Manager to fill out an incident report. Call 911 if necessary.
- Keep the door, glass and windows cleaned as necessary.
- Organize, bag and price jewelry when time allows and keep the jewelry rack stocked.
- Go through the store regularly and remove items that have been on the floor for 30 days or more.
- Handle community service people as they come in. Get a copy of Driver’s License and sheet from the Ellis County with their charges. Make sure they sign our form for community service guidelines being sure to go over bringing lunch, always staying on property. Make copies and put on Managers desk. Show them where to sign in and give them the sheet with duties on them and show them all places’ things are stored to clean, etc. Introduce them to everyone, show them where the waters and the restrooms are. Help in any way necessary.
- Set up new volunteers. Go over our volunteer form with them and get their information. Must put someone down as an emergency contact. Show them where to sign in and give them sheet of duties. Introduce them to everyone, show them where the waters and the restrooms are. Help in any way necessary.
- Get change for the register drawer when necessary. All cashiers know where the change is kept, and it is your responsibility to make sure the drawer is always ready for business, cash and change.
- At the beginning of the day, it is your responsibility to open the drawer, count change, cash and do all the necessary requirements to have the drawer started for start of business. This includes unlocking the doors and turning on the open sign by 9:00 a.m. (no Later) each morning.
- At the close of day, the drawer must be counted down and closed out for the day. A Z Report must be printed to show the day’s information. Then the daily financial form must be filled out with that information and a deposit slip filled out. Always count money twice, including deposit so numbers are correct.
- At the end of the day, it is your responsibility to close the store. Lock front doors, turn off signs, lock all doors to the store, lock managers office, make sure store looks good for start of next business day and set alarm and leave.
- There are many demands to this position but being friendly, representing our ministry in a loving way is first and foremost. There is never to be said, “that is not in my job description” as we do what is asked of us and do it with a cheerful heart. We work as a team and help each other as needed. We are good stewards of his money, his people and his store!
